About
Katrina Brown brings 32 years of nursing experience to her role as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Prior to joining Physicians East, Katrina worked at ECU Health Medical Center’s Medical Intensive Care Unit, specializing in intensive care for patients with complex conditions, including diabetes, sepsis, and respiratory failure. Her previous roles include positions at Vidant Medical Center, where she served in the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, as Manager of Pediatrics and in the Emergency Department.
In 2014, Katrina received the prestigious Great 100 Nurses of North Carolina award. This accolade is bestowed annually to 100 nurses statewide, nominated by their peers for exemplifying role-model behavior, leadership, community advocacy, compassionate caregiving, and significant contributions to the nursing field. Additionally, for the past four years, Katrina has actively supported the Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament at Big Rock, which is dedicated to breast cancer survivors and their caregivers.
Equipped with extensive nursing education, Katrina holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Family Nurse Practitioner from George Mason University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Carolina – Aiken.
Exhibiting her expertise and strong commitment to her profession, Katrina is certified in the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale for assessing neurological deficit post-stroke, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Basic Life Support Instructor Certification, and Triage Training, among others.
Outside work, she enjoys snow skiing with her husband and friends at Snowshoe, West Virginia. She also enjoys walking her dogs, gardening, painting, and reading.
