About

Dr. Mason Holtel is a urologist who earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. He completed his urology residency at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. His foundational education includes a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with minors in chemistry and medical humanities from the University of South Carolina – Columbia.

Dr. Holtel’s research experience is extensive. As a Student Research Assistant at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville, he focused on male fertility. Prior to this, he researched the epigenetics of aging at the University of South Carolina Coker Life Sciences. His research contributions have led to several publications, including studies on the use of spermatic cord blocks to identify paraspinal tumors and the relationship between gender, thrombolysis therapy, and dyslipidemia in stroke patients.

His dedication to community service and leadership is evident through his involvement in various initiatives. He participated in the Love Your Melon organization, which supports children battling cancer. Additionally, he volunteered at the Christian Medical & Dental Association’s community health screenings, offering free health services in low-income neighborhoods, and at the Free Medical Clinic in Columbia, SC.

Dr. Holtel’s personal interests include Atlanta Braves baseball, 3D printing, and gardening. He is married to a professional photographer and is the father of a daughter and a son.
